There are some points to be considered before drafting a literature review. While writing a literature review, it would be better to ask questions about the research topic or thesis, for which the particular review would be able to provide a good definition. The kind of review which is being conducted must be judged; whether it is dealing with theoretical issues, quantitative or qualitative research, etc. The next question would be about the scope of the review, the kind of publications which are being dealt with including books, journals, etc. The respective discipline for which the review is being conducted like sociology, nursing psychology, etc. also needs consideration.
Questions can also be asked regarding the quality of information seeking, the relevance of data, the appropriateness of sources, and so on. Also, questions about the methods followed in the critical analysis of the data can be asked. The next important thing would be to examine the usefulness and relevance of the review that is being conducted.
In fact, it is not a good practice to scrutinize one paragraph after the other. In other words, it is better to divide the literature review in different segments which clearly display the central theme or trend or the relevance of data in question.
